The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist for Apartments

Happy Spring! With the weather warming up and the sun staying out longer each day, many of us find ourselves with the energy for things that we put off during the cold winter months. One of those things is cleaning, but if it's been awhile since you've done a deep clean of your apartment, it can be overwhelming to know where to start.

We're here to help. Here's a checklist of things you can do to refresh your apartment for the spring cleaning season.

General

  • Sweep, then mop your floors.
  • Clean and dust all surfaces.
  • Clean all curtains.
  • Wash the walls.
  • Wipe down baseboards.
  • Shake out and clean any rugs.
  • Clean windows.
  • Open the windows to get air circulating.

Kitchen

  • Clean out pantry and fridge, throwing away any expired food.
  • Wipe down and re-organize cabinets.
  • Wipe down and re-organize drawers.
  • Clean microwave, toaster, and other appliances
  • Disinfect counters.
  • Clean sink, oven, and stovetops.

Living Room

  • Wash all couches and fabric chairs.
  • Rotate couch cushions.
  • Wash throw pillows and blankets.
  • Wipe down televisions.
  • Organize shelves and throw away anything you're not using.
  • Clean lampshades and replace any dead lightbulbs.
  • Move and clean under large furniture.

Bathroom

  • Deep clean bathtub interior and shower.
  • Replace rags, loofahs, and toothbrushes as needed.
  • Clean and re-organize cabinets.
  • Clean showerhead.
  • Wash shower curtain liner.
  • Wipe down mirrors.

Bedrooms

  • Go through clothing and donate what you no longer wear.
  • Clean under bed.
  • Re-organize closets and desks.
  • Wash bedding, including comforter and mattress liner.
  • Vacuum mattress.

It may sound like a lot of work, but some patience and a solid plan will help you get many of these simple things completed. You'll feel better, and the results will be worth it — a refreshed look and feel to your apartment just in time for warmer weather.
