Keeping Your Apartment Pet Friendly

Our furry friends are important members of the family. Here at Kaftan, we know the joy that pets can bring to us and in our homes. We allow small pets in our apartments, provided that they can live comfortably in the space.

Taking care of pets in an apartment does come with a unique set of challenges, but there are things you can do to make it easier to manage and enjoy your furry friends. Here are our best tips.

Play

If pets don't get enough play time, it could lead to them being too energetic and disruptive to neighbors. You should make sure you're taking time every day to get them regular exercise and some fun time, whether that's walks for dogs or time spent chasing and playing with your cats.

Bathroom

Depending on what kind of pet you have, your needs will differ. For dogs, make sure you're taking them out regularly. For cats, having an enclosed or even self-cleaning litter box will help to minimize smells in small spaces.

Feeding

Finding a place to keep pet food and water in an apartment can be a challenge. We suggest keeping them out of spaces with a lot of foot traffic, to reduce mess and also make sure your pets feel as though their things are safe. Experiment with different locations to see which one makes your pet feel the most comfortable.

Hygiene

Regular grooming will help keep pet fur and dander off of furniture. For pets with shorter hair, this could be as simple as regular brushing. Those with longer coats might do better with professional grooming services. Nail clipping will also help minimize damage to furniture.

Routine

Pets thrive on routine. You can minimize behavioral challenges by sticking to one. Try to feed them at the same time each day. For dogs, keep walks around the same time. Make your pets part of your morning and nightly routines, and find ways to include them in your daily lives. This will increase your bond, but also make apartment living more comfortable for all of you!
